Here we go again with lots of improvements and new features! Grab it while it's hot ;)

  • geometry tools: sequence of lines, curved lines, ellipses

  • new brush and layer blending modes; different layer merging

  • new color dialog: palette and gamut mapping

  • improved document frame, can be resized on canvas

  • symmetric drawing mode

  • old color changer ("washed") from 0.6 is available again

  • toolbar improvements, e.g. move layer mode, pan/zoom

  • revised cursor and on-canvas color picker

  • better separation of mypaint's brush library; json brush file format

  • translations, performance improvements, bugfixes, and more

Here's an illustrated explanation of new and reworked features: Mypaint 1.1 - A guide through the new features.

Sidenote: there's no (properly) working Windows build as of yet. Please don't be too harsh with the developers - there's not a single active developer actually working on Windows, so it's pretty hard to test and debug a Windows version of mypaint :/
If you happen to be a developer working with Windows and would be glad to help improve the situation, head over to IRC or the forums

Is this a stable version? And will it run on Ubuntu 12.10? My husband just upgraded to 12.10 yesterday, so I was finally able to upgrade to MyPaint 1.0.0. I saw where 1.1.0 was available, but what I had read about it, it wasn't really stable yet. But I wasn't sure if that was for the Windows or Linux version. So I just installed the previous version.
I'd love to get this new release of it, since it was mentioned above that they've implemented the "move layer" option. And that's something I've been hoping for a while that they would add. I like being able to bring a reference picture into MyPaint sometimes, so I don't have to keep going back and forth from my picture viewer to MyPaint. For instance, I'm working on a picture right now that has a deer in it, and was using a picture of a deer as reference, and when I brought it into MyPaint, it just stuck the picture on top of my deer that I was drawing. I was like, "well that's not gonna work...". So, I just had to bring the picture up in my picture viewer, and have it set to stay on top of my other windows.
So if it's now possible to move layers around in the newest MyPaint release, it would be awesome! :)

this is a stable release ;)
you could also load that picture into the scratchpad (which is like an additional canvas for scribbling)

How do I update to the new version of MyPaint? If it's supposed to do it automatically, I don't think mine has. ^^;
