Hey everybody,

just wanted to let you know that I renamed "Landscape and Still Life" to "Landscape and Inanimate Objects" because we have been getting lots of submissions to this category which actually are paintings of animate - i.e. alive - beings.
(Which is not a problem at all, because we can easily move those paintings to the appropriate folder, but it is a rather tedious task).

So, don't let me further disturb you, go ahead an paint! :)

MyPaint is at On the front page, there's links to download the program for both Linux and Windows, as well as links to related projects.

There's a bunch of MyPaint Tutorials on the MyPaint Resources page, and there might be even more on the Wiki or in the Forum.

Also, be sure to checkout Deevad's very cool time-lapse video showing his use of MyPaint.

Hi, I wrote a tutorial on how to run linux version of mypaint as a windows application, would anyone care to take a look? It's not the final version, so it might not work at the first time, but if there are any problems I'll provide all necessary support.…

Also, how exactly does one put brushes in their favorites group?

I've tried clicking and dragging but that didn't do anything...and well having to go through all the brushes for the one I want is just a bit inefficient. Assistance please?(I'm on Windows by the way)

Which version of MyPaint are you using? If you're using 1.0, you can open the Brushes subwindow (I THINK the shortcut is "b" but I could be wrong)
If you're using MyPaint 1.1, go to "Brush" and hover over "Brush groups." Click the one you want to add brushes from, and then click on the "favorites" group and drag between the two windows.

I hope this helps?

Ah thanks for the reply! :3 I am able to open the subwindow, though I admit to being unable to fill in the favorites group vexes me. ':P With your help I saw the brush list editor, though I am still unsure about how to make it work....

Try and close the program and then open it again. Sometimes MyPaint acts really stupid and doesn't let you click-drag your brushes to different groups :/
Does your tablet work with it though? It's intended to be a mostly tablet software.

Pardon me, I was wondering if the Huion h610pro was compatible with the program MyPaint? As I am really contemplating purchasing a new tablet and don't want to scrounge for a new program. Please and thank you.

Yes, it should be compatible! If you have any issues with your pen pressure, be sure to reply to me, and I'll help you out the best that I can!
